Dr. Thompson has taken a particular interest in bone grafting and recent advances in implant procedures and protocol. Bone grafting can be a very exciting, advantageous procedure in some cases. Dr. Thompson takes a conservative approach to bone grafting and realizes that this procedure is not indicated in all cases. Dr. Thompson and his staff will thoroughly evaluate your particular situation to determine if you are a good candidate for bone grafting. We use leading edge iCAT 3-D imaging, which gives us a very detailed x-ray that we use for precise placement of your dental implant. Using innovative technology, we work with your dentist to give you the best implant treatment option.
What is Bone Grafting?
Over a period of time, the jawbone associated with missing teeth atrophies and is reabsorbed. This often leaves a condition in which there is poor quality and quantity of bone suitable for the placement of dental implants. In these situations, most patients are not candidates for the placement of dental implants.
With bone grafting we now have the opportunity to not only replace bone where it is missing, but we also have the ability to promote new bone growth in that location. This not only gives us the opportunity to place implants of proper length and width, it also gives us a chance to restore functionality and aesthetic appearance.
Dr. Thompson can determine which type of bone graft procedure is best suited to your particular needs.
